Hey, I'm Jacob! I'm a Product Experience Designer—but more importantly,
I want to help people.

Open to Opportunities

I was laid off from my last company due to a shift in priorities and the consolidation of the product team. After multiple rounds of layoffs to the team, I was assured of my value to the company and the continued progress of our products. Unfortunately, several months later my role could no longer be sustainably justified.

While disappointing, I have since been designing and consulting with business owners, product leaders, and organizations in the arenas of UX/UI design, visual design, and marketing—while I seek full-time employment. Feel free connect if you're in need of such help!

Real Quick
  • 10 years of end-to-end UX/UI experience, working with smaller teams (startup, startup-like, and non-profit), largely as the only designer
  • Companies trust me to make effective design decisions, and I love making a significant impact—I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and wear multiple hats when I need to.
  • Primarily worked on enterprise B2B SaaS applications—but I'm no one-trick pony
  • I've honed in on figuring out the balances between user desires and business needs. That isn't to say my skills are confined to those subcategories—I'm adaptable as much as I am thoughtful and empathetic. Besides getting my start in design with a non-profit, I've worked on and consulted for consumer-facing, eCommerce, and mobile products, to name a few—I don't like being typecast.
  • Collaborative with anyone I can get insights from, including product managers, stakeholders, engineers, marketing, and end-users
  • I enjoy working through problems with people who have different perspectives and goals, and figuring out solutions where nuanced puzzle-pieces come together.
  • Confident in decision-making, while seeking to stay well-informed, but also diplomatic in reaching conclusions
  • My approach uses a lot of critical thinking and thorough understanding of the variables—I frequently seek the "why" instead of accepting things at face value. At the same time, I realize that there is subjectivity in design, and thus I want to find satisfying results for all parties—within reason.

UX/UI Case Studies

The following are case studies of the major, overarching projects I was responsible for with these companies. A variety of smaller scale and/or scope projects were also amongst my responsibilities, but if they didn't tie into these larger initiatives, they have not been included in case studies.

Visual Design & Illustrations

In addition to my UX/UI work, I regularly keep challenging myself creatively with side projects that include different types of art and visual design—these are a handful of these creative projects.
